About Escape Road City 2

Escape Road City 2 is the sequel to the original Escape Road, and it leans further into open-city chase gameplay. Instead of a fixed track, you've got a sprawling city — intersections, alleys, ramps off the highway — and a wanted level that climbs the longer you stay alive. The goal is simple: outrun the cops as long as you can, then bank your score before they box you in.

The sequel's biggest upgrade is the drift-into-nitro chain. Pull a clean drift around a corner, and your nitro meter refills enough to fire a boost out of the apex. String drifts and boosts together and you can leave a 6-car pursuit eating dust on a single straight. It's the move that separates new players from people who actually know the game.

How to Play

WASD or arrow keys steer and accelerate. Space pulls the handbrake — tap it mid-corner to initiate a drift. Shift fires the nitro when the meter is full. Crashes don't end the run, but they kill momentum, and momentum is what keeps the police behind you.

Tips for Long Runs

  • Drift early, drift often. The nitro meter refills mostly from drifts. Treat every right-angle corner as a drift opportunity, not a brake-and-turn.
  • Use alleys to break line-of-sight. Cops lose tracking briefly when they can't see you. Cutting through a narrow alley is worth more than outrunning them on a highway.
  • Save nitro for getaway bursts. Don't burn it on the chase — burn it the moment you create a gap so the cops can't recover.
  • Don't fight the spawn. Roadblocks spawn ahead based on your speed. Slowing down briefly can sometimes despawn the upcoming block.
  • Target wanted-level breakpoints. Every wanted-level threshold adds new pursuit types. Banking your score before crossing into a new tier is often safer than pushing for one more combo.

What's Different from Escape Road 1

If you played the first Escape Road, the open city is the headline change — the original was tighter and more linear. Drift-nitro chaining is also new, and the police AI is noticeably more aggressive at high wanted levels. The arcade feel is the same, so muscle memory carries over, but the strategy layer is deeper this time.

FAQ

Is Escape Road City 2 free?

Yes — runs free in your browser with no signup or download.

Do I need to play the first Escape Road first?

No — Escape Road City 2 stands alone. Familiarity with arcade chase games helps, but it's not required.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. Mobile uses on-screen touch controls; desktop with a keyboard gives the cleanest drifts.

How does the nitro meter refill?

Mainly through drifting. Long clean drifts refill it the fastest. Driving in a straight line refills it slowly.

Can I save my high score?

High scores are stored in your browser's local storage. Clearing site data resets them.
